James M. Spitze, SCCs Managing Partner, has over 35
years experience in the IT field, approximately
equally divided between serving as an IT executive and
serving as an IT consultant. His experience is global
in nature. Since co-founding SCC in 1986, he has
assessed the IT situations of numerous major
organizations and has served as an Interim CIO for
several SCC clients. Concurrent with his SCC role, Jim served from 1992-1996
as Executive Director of The Fisher Center For Information Technology And
Management within the Haas School of Business at UC-Berkeley.
He has BS & MSEE degrees in Electrical Engineering
and Computer Science from UC-Berkeley, where he also
pursued Ph.D. studies in the area of Computer
Architecture.
Edward G. dePaschalis, Senior Partner, has 35 years
of experience in the IT area. He has been the CIO
for Philips Electronics - Semiconductor,
Levi-Strauss and Target Corporation. He has
worked with numerous clients including Intel,
Cirrus Logic, Lattice Semiconductor, U.S. Lighting,
Chiron, Valley Transit Authority (Santa Clara) and
Tultex (apparel manufacturing). He was a
Senior Manager for Coopers and Lybrand for several
years and has been with SCC since 1992. Ed has a BS
in Economics from Villanova and an MBA from Temple
University
Takeo T. Hirai, Senior Partner, has over 25 years of
experience, in both consulting and IT management positions.
He has assisted numerous clients in a wide range of industries on issues
such as long-range information technology planning, business process
reengineering, business system assessments, hardware and software
selection and implementation, organizational effectiveness, and operational efficiency. BS
in Physics from UCLA, and MS in Mechanical Engineering and
an MBA, both from UC Berkeley. Tak is Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certified.

Dave Mitchell, Senior Partner, is a seasoned people-oriented leader with a
proven track record in effective and efficient
Information Technology delivery. His areas of
expertise include information technology planning,
high performance global Infrastructure management,
applications delivery, and information technology
assessments.
Working with CIOs and Executive
Management he insures that Information Technology is
properly focused and assists in assessing the
organization’s efficiency in technology delivery.
Dave was co-founder of a CIO
Breakfast Roundtable; served on the Industrial
Advisory Board for Cal-Poly SLO; and served on the
Global Advisory Council of a major computer
manufacturer.
Terry Curtis has 20 years of experience in
evaluating, auditing, and benchmarking networking strategies and
technologies. He has extensive up-to-date experience with emerging
telecommunication technologies in the areas of packet data networks,
wireless networks, and optical networks. In addition to his work with
SCC, Terry is a tenured Professor of Telecommunication Policy and
Technology at California State University, Chico, and is a member of the
State Bar of California. He is recognized internationally as an expert
in the strategic use of new telecommunication systems and services, is
widely published on these issues, and is regularly called upon to speak
about them at industry events.
Coby L. Dunn has over twenty-five years of experience as a
senior business and systems executive in operations, product
development, customer service and support. His current areas of
focus are mentoring enterprise organizations during their
development and deployment of a lasting customer service and
support strategy. He has been responsible for the selection and
implementation of over 60 major service automation solutions,
including the specification and acquisition of outsourced
services and technology. With a solid foundation in Fortune 100
I/T organizations, Coby has been able to translate business
requirements into realistic and practical technology and
operational implementations.
Coby holds a BS from the University of San Francisco and MBA
from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a member of
Incoming Call Management Institute (ICMI) and Association of
Support Professionals (ASP). Recently he has been certified for
the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
Frank Hannig, with a career that spans close to 30 years in
the Information Technology industry, is currently working as an Executive
Consultant and Investor. His key focus is applying his technology, business,
and management skills to assist new companies in the formation and early
development stages. Frank was most recently the Vice President and Chief
Information Officer for Altera Corporation for over 8 years.
Frank holds a BS degree from California Polytechnic State University in
San Luis Obispo and a MBA degree from the University of Santa Clara.
He also holds a CPIM certification. Frank is currently on the Board
of Trustees for Notre Dame de Namur University and the Sequoia Hospital
Foundation.
Tim Hanrahan is a management and information technology consultant with
over 30 years of IT experience in a diversity of industries. Most recently,
Tim held the position of Vice President of Information Services, CIO
and CSO at Adaptec, Inc, where he was responsible for all of the company's
worldwide computer operations, networks, and application systems.
Prior to Adaptec, Tim spent twenty-two years with Sun Diamond Growers
of California in various positions, culminating as Vice President of Information
Services.
Tim also serves on a number of business and technology advisory boards
for Northern California companies and start-ups. He holds a BS in
Engineering from Arizona State University.
Larry Marks has over
35 years of IT experience including 20+ years in
networking technologies. He has extensive up-to-date
experience with Lotus Notes development and deployment
services and Lotus Notes companion products. Prior to
joining SCC, Larry was a Principal of Ernst &
Young's Management Consulting practice. He has also
served as a leader in the development of international
standards for messaging, directory and network
management, and has written and spoken frequently on
these topics. Larry is Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certified.
Harvey Schmit, has over 35 years of business experience,
including IT and business management experience. At Intel Corporation,
he headed business applications, European IT, Production Planning, and
Japanese subcontracting. At AMD, he led the Business Planning, Information
Architecture, and Project Management areas for IT. His other experience
includes Vice President of a software company serving the semiconductor
industry, and, quite recently, CIO for a Frequency Control manufacturer at which
he was responsible for preparing the IT organization for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Harvey has consulted for several prominent Silicon Valley companies
on a broad range of planning and project management assignments. He holds a
BA from University of Wisconsin and an MBA in International Management from
Golden Gate University.
Larry Schork, has joined SCC as a consultant focusing on IT organization
consulting, governance, scaleable operations, and business process enhancement.
Prior to his affiliation with SCC, Larry was VP of Technology for Rainmaker
Systems where he scaled the operation to sustain a 40% increase in revenue,
transactions, and two acquisitions to meet the growing demands of Fortune 100
firms such as HP, Dell, and Microsoft. Prior to joining Rainmaker, Larry was
VP and GM of IT for Loudcloud, Inc. where he built and deployed the applications
and IT infrastructure to support the hosting of large-scale web applications
globally for large organizations and governments. Other companies Larry has
served include Metricom, Rational Software, Sun Microsystems, and Apple Computer.
Larry holds a BA degree from Golden Gate University, Certified Developer
credentials from UC Santa Cruz, ITIL Foundations certification, and is a candidate
for PMP certification. He is currently pursuing CISSP certification.
Arnold Testa’s career spans over 30 years of information
systems management and consulting. He has led more than 70 projects,
three consulting practices, and the information systems departments
for EPRI, Siemens, Tandem, Intel and Bank of America. His project
expertise covers all areas of private and public enterprise systems.
Arnie recently retired as CIO of EPRI, the Electric Power Research Institute.
He has extensive experience creating Information Technology strategy and
implementing enterprise-wide systems. Arnie holds a business degree from the University of Notre
Dame and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
He is a former chairman of the Northern California Chapter of SIM,
and regional director of the Notre Dame Alumni Association.
